The target of this 1st Workshop used to be to collect end-users, brands and (computer) keep an eye on experts to judge percentages within the very important box of manufacturing facility automation. This quantity deals ideas for product, approach layout, creation layout and keep watch over. Technical standards also are mentioned and fiscal justification tools are evaluated. The papers incorporated current clever, modular, "low fee" ways or options acceptable for small and medium sized businesses which would reap the benefits of more desirable potency and competitiveness

Peripheral Robot Devices Fig. 10: Basic structure of the PC-based robot controller the lower price level. Additionally one main aspect behind this development was to implement an integrated menu oriented programming environment as an efficient and easy-to-learn tool for program generation, which can also be used by novices in the field of robotics. Especially this aspect seems to be substantia] for the intended application areas, which are handling and assembly tasks, education and research and laboratory applications.

Small and medium sized companies have special requirements for their factory automation. Due to small batches and high flexibility they need automation equipment, which supports their approval to individual purchaser requests. Customized controller solutions are often very expensive which makes it very risky to start with automation efforts. In this approach the work cell and robot controller software is implemented in a PC-environment, which makes it a low cost solution, suitable for many different applications.
